This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The edition of May 28, 1839, carried the following "for sale" ad — black and white coat.
NEWFOUNDLAND DOG. — To be SOLD, one of the largest and most magnificent young dogs of th above breed, colour black and white. To be seen at Mr. Barber's, grocer, 141 Lower Marsh, near the Marsh gate, Lambeth. To prevent trouble 20 guineas is the lowest price.
