This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The edition of October 3, 1839, carried the following "Newf for sale" notice — for a fawn Newfoundland!
NEWFOUNDLAND DOG. — For SALE, a splendid young NEWFOUNDLAND DOG, very large, fawn colour, with black muzzle. To save unnecessary trouble, lowest price 10 guineas. Apply after 3 o'clock at 19, Cursitor-street, Chancery-lane.
