This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The edition of August 25, 1842, contained the following "lost Newf" notice — Landseer coloring:
TWO GUINEAS REWARD. — LOST, on the morning of the 24th instant, a fine large NEWFOUNDLAND DOG; answers to the name of Neptune; black head, with white face, black and white body, legs all white. Whoever will bring the same to 9, White Horse-street, Picadilly, shall receive the above reward.
