This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The edition of September 5, 1842, contained the following "for sale" notice. No color information, but interesting nonetheless for its claim that 9-month-old Newfs are "gigantic" and apparently trained to the sledge already. (?!)
TO be SOLD . . . two gigantic Newfoundland Sledge Dogs, from St. John's, Newfoundland, nine months old. . . . The owner is leaving town. Apply to W. W., at Mr. Orrock's, draper, London House, Bow, Mile-end.
