This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The edition of June 22, 1842, contained a "Newf for sale" notice — black and white coat:
NEWFOUNDLAND DOG to be SOLD, one of the handsomest in England, and can be warranted to jump off any of the bridges. His colour is black and white. For a yard or home [?] dog would be found valuable. May be had under his worth by applying from 12 till 4 o'clock, at Mr. Timberlake's stables, Glouster-mews west, Montagu-square.
