This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The edition of August 1, 1846, carried a "lost Newf" notice — black with white chest:
LOST, between 9 and 10 o'clock last evening, the neighbourhood of Cumming-street, Pentonville, a BLACK NEWFOUNDLAND DOG, with white breast, answers to the name of "Ralph," had on a large brass collar. Whoever will bring the same to the owner, at 11, Cumming-street, will be REWARDED.
