[ London Times ]
This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The edition of August 6, 1846, carried another "lost Newf named Lion" notice — black and white:
LOST, July 19, a large BLACK and WHITE NEWFOUNDLAND DOG, answers to the name of Lion; has four white feet, white chest, and white ring around his neck, and the end of his tail white. Was seen to follow two men on horseback. Whoever will bring the same to Mr. Child, Queen's Arms, Kilburn-gate, shall be handsomely REWARDED for his trouble.
