[ London Times ]

This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.

The edition of January 9, 1847, carried an ad for a lost Newf, one with the very popular Newf name "Lion" — and with a "light red tan face," whatever that means:

LOST, on the 28th of December, 1846, from 130, Picadilly, a BLACK AND WHITE NEWFOUNDLAND DOG, answers to the name of Lion, with a light red tan face and a red cast in his eye, with long brush tail. Whoever will bring the same to the above-mentioned place will be handsomely REWARDED.
