This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The edition of August 2, 1849, carried a "lost Newf" notice — black with white feet and tail tip.
ONE GUINEA REWARD. — LOST, on Sunday last, a BLACK NEWFOUNDLAND DOG, all his feet and tail tipped with white, and a few white hairs on his chest. Whoever has found him, and will bring him to the Kestrel, Union-road, Clapham, shall receive the above reward.
