This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The edition of October 10, 1849, carried a "found Newf" notice — black with white markings:
FOUND, a large BLACK NEWFOUNDLAND DOG, tail tipped with white, white star on the breast, white mouth. If not owned within six days will be sold to defray expenses. Apply at the Aire and Calder Bottle Company, Horse-shoe-wharf, Upper Thames-street. – Oct. 10. 1849.
