This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The March 8, 1819 edition of The Times carried the following "for sale" notice:
TWO fine young NEWFOUNDLAND DOGS to be SOLD; their qualities as water-dogs will be proved; they are most faithful tractable animals and well-adapted for watch-dogs; the present holder going abroad is the reason he is parting with them. They will be see on applying at No. 1, Easton-street, Spafields.
