This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The April 18, 1823 edition of The Times carried the following "found Newf" article, with coat-color remarks:
FOUND, a BLACK DOG, of the Newfoundland breed, has four white legs, white tip to his tail, and white blaze down his face. Whoever has lost the above, upon application to Mrs. Wiltshire, Half-moon, Broad-green, Croydon, and paying the expenses, may have it restored or, if not owned within 14 days from the present date, the dog will be sold to defray the same.
