[ London Times ]

This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.

The February 29, 1832 edition of The Times carried the following "lost Newf" (Landseer) notice:

ONE GUINEA REWARD. — LOST, on Tuesday evening, April 10, between 6 and 7, in Church-street, Stoke Newington, a large BLACK and WHITE NEWFOUNDLAND DOG, about 10 months old; had on a new brass collar. Whoever will bring the said dog to Mr. Kemp, Newington-green, or at 68, St. Mary-ave, Leadenhall-street, shall receive the above reward.

The same issue of the times also carried a "lost dog" notice for a black-and-white Newf/setter mix; the reward offered in that case was the unusual sum of two guinea, roughly equivalent to $250 US in 2020.
