[ London Times ]

This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.

The June 11, 1833 edition of The Times carried the following "lost Newf" notice (Landseer):

LOST, on Friday last, the 7th instant, a BLACK and WHITE NEWFOUNDLAND DOG. Head and ears mostly black, with a black spot on his rump. The above is a young dog, has a large bushey tail, and answers to the name of Sailor. Whoever will bring the same to Mr. Hind, Kentish-town House, at the foot of Highgate-hill, will receive TWO GUINEAS REWARD.

This reward, worth approximately $300 US in 2024, was about twice the typical reward for lost dogs at this time.
