This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The January 5, 1835 edition of The Times carried the following "lost Newf" notice (black with white chest and paws):
LOST, on Wednesday, the 31st of December, between St. Paul's churchyard and Farringdon-street, a large BLACK NEWFOUNDLAND DOG, breast and paws white. Answers to the name of D[?]. Whoever will bring him to the Greenwich station[?]-officer, Tower-hill, will be handsomely REWARDED.
