This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The March 17, 1788 edition of The Times carried the following "lost dog" notice regarding a Landseer Newfoundland:
Lost on Sunday night, March 9, 1788, a large NEWFOUNDLAND DOG, answers to the name of Tyger, black and white spotted, a Black head, a large rough Tail. Whoever will bring the dog to John Palmer, Esq. at the General Post-Office shall receive a One Guinea Reward.
