[ London Times ]
This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The edition of October 21, 1836 carried the following brief note about a vicious Newfoundland:
An accident of the most serious nature occurred on Monday last to Mr. Dempster Heming, of Caldecote-hall. He is a very early riser, and was standing, about 7 o'clock in the morning, near his lodge in Caldecote-lane, when a ferocious dog, of the Newfoundland breed, seized him by the arm, which he lacerated in a dreadful manner. — Warwick Advertiser
