This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The edition of May 10, 1837 carried the following "lost Newfoundland" notice — for a white and tan Newf!:
TWO GUINEAS REWARD. — LOST, on the 5th inst., a large WHITE NEWFOUNDLAND DOG, with light tan ears, and a tan spot on the forehead. Whoever will bring the dog to 8, Rutland-street, Mornington-place, Hampstead-road, shall receive the above REWARD. No further reward will be offered.
