This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The November 12, 1788 edition of The Times carried the following "lost dog" notice:
Followed a Person on Wednesday, the 5th inst. a LARGE NEWFOUNDLAND BITCH; whosoever has lost her, and can give a thorough description, may have her by paying all reasonable expenses incurred; apply to No. 10, Stone Cutter's Court, Crutched Friars. If not owned within fourteen days of this date will be sold.
