This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The edition of April 5, 1838, carried a "found" dog notice for a Newfoundland — black coat.
FOUND, a large BLACK NEWFOUNDLAND DOG. Whoever has lost the same may have it by applying at William the Fourth, Camberwell New-road, and paying all expenses. If not owned within 14 days, it will be sold to defray the expenses.
