A Newfoundland (date unknown)
(oil on board, 6-3/8" x 5-3/8")
by
Carl Reichert
Carl Reichert (1835 - 1918) was an Austrian painter primarily known for his paintings of animals, particularly of dogs — and, to narrow it further, of dachsunds. But he also painted at least two Newfoundlands, and both of those works — this one and A Newfoundlander — can be seen here at The Cultured Newf.
This work was part of a pair, A Newfoundland; and a Setter.
