by
Gary R. Lucy

Gary R. Lucy (1949 - 2025) was an American painter (and art teacher) with a particular focus on wildlife and on historical subjects. He painted a series of works depicting life on the inland waterways of the United States, a series which included eight works depicting moments in the Lewis and Clark expedition. Two of those images include Seaman, the Newfoundland who famously accompanied the explorers.

For more on Seaman, arguably the most famous Newfoundland in history, check out this page here at The Cultured Newf.
