William Elstob Marshall (active 1859 - 1880) was a British painter, the son of the painter Thomas Falcon Marshall (1818-1878). William Marshall was known primarily for his oil paintings of animal and rural subjects.
Is that a Newfoundland in the left rear corner? Impossible to say with certainty, but a very real possibility.
