Landseer Newfoundland (?)
by
Arthur Wardle
Arthur Wardle (1864 - 1949) was one of the most successful and popular animal artists of the late 19th and early 20th Centuries. Like Landseer before him, Wardle was something of a prodigy, exhibiting his first work in the prestigious Royal Academy at the age of 16; he was a very prolific painter as well in a number of mediums. Wardle is perhaps best known for his images of terriers.
