This newspaper, most correctly known simply as The Times, began publication in 1785 and continues to this day.
The edition of June 23, 1845, carried the following "lost Newf" notice — black coat. This reward is on the opposite end of the scale from the one offered for a Newfoundland on June 23 of the same year.
DOG. — LOST, a BLACK NEWFOUNDLAND DOG, named Lion, supposed to have followed a carriage from Camberwell. Whoever will bring him to Mr. Bullock, Denmark-hill, will receive TEN SHILLINGS REWARD
